the evenings in the summertime were the color of amber and the roses in the gardens, overgrown opal. the days had gone on and so had you, but the memories will still sparkle brightly in my mind. the diamonds around my neck burned my skin and seared holes in my corneas for no matter the beauty of it all, you wore the crown of my heart and held the sword that was my tongue. my eyes were dense with harvests of salt and each teardrop fell, a heavy shard of ice. rubies and emeralds covered my body and the sky often shed sapphire that drenched the world in baby blue. lavish jewelry cradled my emotions and hid the loneliness as I danced with the agony that was living without you. I suppose I’d knew when you had left, at least the jewels would be forever.
